transmogrification, 2023

An interactive, immersive work by Gav Barbey and Andrew Howie

Transmogrification is a collaboration between internationally recognised artists Gav Barbey and Andrew Howie that explores the process of change, Drawing together works on paper, projection, sound and participatory elements, this installation invites you to collaborate, create, observe and contemplate the process of transformation.

Gav’s works on paper, made by melting coloured blocks of ice, are a focal point within the installation and represent the multitude of possibilities that can result from a process of change. As you enter the space, the artists invite you to experience this process. Choose a frozen block of colour from the freezer, place it on one of the canvas platforms and watch as it slowly melts and eventually dries. Let gravity and time change the picture as you watch the painting take shape.
