ICE WORKS

Ice Works are process-driven works utilising melted frozen pigments. Ice Works are both permanent works on paper and canvas, and ephemeral works activated within the environment. The process sees a sizeable number of pigments, acrylic paints, dyes, inks and natural colours derived from nature, which are laid within water and frozen. The frozen blocks are then placed and manipulated into a semi-organic interactive painting. Ice Works are often immersive and participatory within the environment. Short films capture the melting moments - these videos are pieced together from stop motion works and user generated content from the audience, with participatory happenings the only evidence the pieces existed at all.

“When we bundle individuals into groups by labelling them, we so often overlook the diversities that makes them part of any such group.”
