cube mark-making, 2024

Using charcoal and earth pigments from Victorian bushfires to inform man-made structure

At Radical Fields’ End of Season Harvest in Glenlyon (near Daylesford, Victoria), Gav worked with locals through a play on the traditional #whitecube through mark-making.

Gav’s immersive work explores the fluidity of not knowing and the joy of making marks on an otherwise untarnished surface.

Using natural pigments and charcoal from recent Victorian bushfires, participants expressed the sounds around them through movement. Tracing, drawing and painting throughout the day made for a fun co-creative experience for all.
